Mr. Sheikh Kabir Hossain was born in a respectable SHEIKH family of Tungipara in the District of Gopalganj, Bangladesh. His father Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain and mother Rahela Khatun. Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain was conferred with a title "Khan Shaheb" by the British Government for his outstanding self-financed social activities. Khan Shaheb was an eminent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from East Pakistan.

He obtained Master of Arts Degree from the University of Dhaka. After completing his education, he served the Bureau of Statistics the then Government of East Pakistan, Sonali Bank and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. He resigned from his service in the year 1975 after assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and started business. Now he is a renowned business icon in Bangladesh and CIP - awarded by the Government of Bangladesh.

Inspired by the idealism of his father Sheikh Kabir Hossain devoted himself in contributing to the spread of education and Social works. He joined as a valued member of Lions Clubs International world’s largest voluntary service organization in the year 1975. He served as District Governor, Council Chairman and International Director of Lions Clubs International. He has been serving his administrative responsibilities with some of his self-established and some other national institutions which range from the threshold to the tertiary level.

Presently he is the Chairman - Sonar Bangla Insurance Ltd.; National Tea Company (NTC) & Health and Education for the local under privileged people (HELP); Association of private University of Bangladesh (APUB); Central Depositary Bangladesh Ltd (CDBL); Khan Shaheb Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain Foundation. Managing Director: Kabico Limited; Kabico Food Limited & Masuda Dairy Nutrition Ltd; President: Bangladesh Insurance Association; Gopalganj Zila Samity, Dhaka. Member of Regent Board of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mojibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Gopalgonj; Jessore University of Science and Technology; Board of Governors, Bangladesh Open University; and Syndicate Member, Khulna Agricultural University. For his outstanding leadership Sheikh Kabir Hossain was awarded as the Ambassador of Goodwill from the Lions Club International, and Presidential Award, Leadership Medal. Presidential Medals, Special Presidential Extension Awards and many other Awards. He also received (1) "Sher-E-Bangla Gold Medal-2000" for Shamaj Sheba (service to society) from Bangla Youth Forum. (2) "DeshBandhu Gold Medal" from DeshBandhu C.R. Dash Research Council on Manob Sheba (service for humanity) from Bangladesh and (3) "Bangladesh Red Crescent Award-2019" for his outstanding service to the humankind.
