Mr. Alam is regarded as one of the of the leading corporate law expert in Bangladesh. He has unparalleled experience in banking, syndication, telecommunication, project financing, securitization, listing of public companies in stock exchanges, and advising foreign investors on regulatory issues in various sectors including but not limited to energy and telecommunication sector of Bangladesh. At present, Mr. Alam is representing clients in several large arbitrations in BERC, BIAC, JATI and ad hoc. He frequently sits as arbitrator in domestic arbitrations.

Mr. Tanjib-ul Alam was appointed as the Lead Consultant by International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) for drafting a new Companies Act for Bangladesh. In addition, he was involved in drafting the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act, 2001, Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006 as well as the upcoming Broadcasting Act of Bangladesh. Mr. Alam was also involved in the drafting of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act. He played key role in developing a number of products and solutions for the mobile operators in Bangladesh. There had not been any substantial telecom deal during last eight years in Bangladesh where Tanjib-ul Alam was not involved. Mr. Alam has also acted as counsel representing Grameenphone Ltd. in acquisition of GPIT by Accenture. He is the lead counsel for the merger of Robi Axiata Limited and Airtel Bangladesh Limited, two mobile phone operators, which happens to be the largest merger in the history of

Bangladesh.

Mr. Alam is a renowned legal consultant in Bangladesh, and has been involved in various projects funded by the World Bank. He was the lead Corporatization Specialist and Consultant of Price water house Coopers (Pwc) in the Public Procurement Reform Project funded by World Bank. Mr. Alam is also the lead counsel for the team of Tanjib Alam and Associates that is advising the premier bourse in Bangladesh, Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd, in off-loading its share to Strategic Investor under the Exchanges Demutualization Act, 2013. Mr. Alam is a leader in power and telecommunication sector. Mr. Alam was called to the Bar of England and Wales from the Hon’ble Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 1997. He has been practicing in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh since 2005.
