Kamrun Nahar Siddiqua

Kamrun Nahar is the first female Chief Information Officer in Bangladesh, who began her duty at the Information Office on February 12, 2017. Currently, she is serving as the Secretary of the Ministry of Information.


Kamrun Nahar was born in Molla village of Nabiganj upazila in Brahmanbaria district. Her father's name is Mohammad Yunus and her mother's name is Mohammad Jamila Khatun. She passed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 1977 and became the first to pass from the Science section in 1979. She received her BSS (Honors) degree in 1982 from the Institute of Social Welfare and Research at the University of Dhaka and obtained an MSS degree in 1983.


In 1984, Kamrun Nahar obtained the position of Information Cadre Officer in the regular batch of BCS. Before joining as Chief Information Officer, she served as Director-General of the Information and Communication Technology Division. In addition to being Chief Information Officer, she previously served as the Director-General of the Department of Film and Publications, the Director-General of the Bangladesh Film Archive, and Vice-Chairman of the Film Censor Board, among other important positions in the government.
