Bangladesh, with its demographic dividend, home-grown ICT technologies, uninterrupted power supply, nationwide IT infrastructure and cost-effective manpower (cheaper than India, Malaysia & China) is ready to serve the nation by saving foreign currencies catering the domestic demand for ICT solutions at the fullest sense. Meanwhile, our success stories can be broadcasted worldwide for providing technical assistance to other countries, especially to the least developed countries. Bangladesh should thrust heavily towards further developing the IT sector to draw the attention of foreign investors competing with other technologically well-invested Asian countries. At the same time, we should encourage our entrepreneurs for hunting joint venture opportunities as it will also help them to harness the power of advanced technologies of other countries. The establishment of these IT firms will raise exports while decreasing international imports, which will benefit the economy by conserving foreign currency. This could also lead to the creation of high-income jobs that would encourage foreign-trained Bangladeshi to return, who can contribute and help attract foreign companies to come. Overall, this roundtable policy dialogue will guide and support new entrepreneurs interested in IT businesses, researchers, investors, and policymakers to embrace the new reality.
